IHEARD is a 5 year project from September, 2021 to March 31, 2026 being implemented in Malawi by a consortium on NGO led by CODE and Farm Radio International (FRI) with funding from Global Affairs Canada (GAC). It is being implemented in Lilongwe, Dowa and Ntchisi districts.

The project goal is to increase the realization of sexual and reproductive health-related human rights (SRHR) for the most vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 10-24 in Malawi, by reducing barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).

The project has three pillars namely, education, health and communication pillars. In the education sector, CODE and Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (FAWEMA), works to improve gender-transformative education by empowering teachers, supporting SRHR knowledge, and combating sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

In the health sector, a UK-based Marie Stopes International (MSI) and their local partner, Banja la Mtsogolo (BLM), works to improve the quality and accessibility of SRH service provision through BLM clinics nationwide.

In communication, Farm Radio International (FRI) with and their local partners, Farm Radio Trust (FRT) Girl Effect, Viamo, Women and Children First and Maikhanda, works to develop national and district interactive information, education and communication (IEC) campaigns/programs using distance and mobile technologies.

FAWEMA targets school youth through clubs, teachers, and school structures like Mother groups, Parents Teachers Association (PTA), School Management Committee (SMC) and parents to communicate freely to their wards on SRHR, Menstrual Hygiene Management, and the importance of education.
