FAWEMA is proud to be part of the Kuyenda Collective, a transnational alliance of five organizations working to address the learning crisis through systems strengthening. The Collective includes:

  • FAWE-Malawi – leading implementation in Malawi
  • CESC Mozambique – leading in Mozambique
  • Teach for Zimbabwe – leading in Zimbabwe
  • Public Service Accountability Monitor (PSAM) – based at Rhodes University, South Africa, serving as the project lead

Together, these partners are implementing the project titled “Addressing the Learning Crisis through Systems Strengthening”, with activities in Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

The project goal is to enhance the ability of rural youth collectives to engage meaningfully in national and transnational policy spaces, influencing the access, quality, and relevance of education systems—especially for marginalized learners.

In Malawi, the project is active in Nkhata Bay and Nkhotakota districts, where youth-led initiatives are:

  • Building capacity for civic engagement and education advocacy
  • Amplifying voices of marginalized learners in policy dialogues
  • Strengthening local systems to improve learning outcomes
