Women and Girls Fund

Empowering Women- and Girl-Led Organisations in Malawi

The Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (FAWEMA) in collaboration with Ecorys, with funding from the Scottish Government, invites Women- and Girl-Led Organisations (WGLOs) to express their interest in funding opportunities through the submission of a concept note for the Women and Girls Fund (WGF).

About the Fund

The Women and Girls Fund is a participatory initiative designed to empower WGLOs to advance gender equality and drive sustainable change in Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia. The fund aims to support innovative projects that address key gender issues while fostering leadership, inclusion, and community-driven solutions.

The eligibility criteria and the application process are outlined in the application guidelines that you can find on the FAWEMA website www.fawema.org and FAWEMA offices in Area 47/ Sector 3/ring road, house number 50

Submission Process

Submission of Concept Notes

  • Concept Note Form can be accessed here fawema.org or in person at the FAWEMA physical address provided above by all interested WGLOs.
  • Application guidelines can be accessed here fawema.org or in person at the FAWEMA physical address provided.

Timeline

  • Call Opens: 7th February 2025
  • Application Deadline: 21st February 2025

Notification of Successful Applicants for progression to Full Proposal Stage:

28th February 2025 Review and Shortlisting

  • All submitted concept notes will be reviewed, and shortlisted organisations will be invited to submit detailed proposals.

Applications should be submitted via email to wgf.malawi@ecorys.com with the subject line: “WGF Call for Concept Note” while physical copies should be submitted to FAWEMA National Secretariat Office, Area 47/ Sector 3/ Ring road, house number 50.

Who Can Apply?

Women-led and girl-led organisations and grassroots that are working to create change in Malawi are encouraged to submit their concept notes.

Support for Applicants

To assist WGLOs in completing the Concept Note Form, FAWEMA and Ecorys will host virtual information sessions on 11th February 2025. We encourage you to check the FAWEMA website and social media platforms closer to the date for the timings for the Information Sessions.
